A pinch of Provence, a dash of Périgord

Trying to harvest the sketches I made in France is taking time. I've had to finish painting some of them. Here are a few:Dscf7406

Beautiful work Laura...I cant even choose a favorite, although I must admit, if there is a fountain somewhere, my heart will always move towards it! I hope you enjoyed your staying as well as the weather as well as the work!
Ronell

Wonderful! Especially the first one with all the reds and greens! You capture the mood perfectly!

Love the frog fountain. Your sense of composition is great in all of these. Looks like a fun trip - painting and eating and fountain watching..

OH GRACIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are so lovely -- so rich -- I am thinking cafes and Paris and pralines, and sketching opportunities everywhere!! The fountains!!! The cafes!!! I am so so loving seeing Paris thru your glorious images!!!!!

The frogs, the frogs, bring them to my doorstep please! Wonderful painting!

Well, WOW. How wonderful to have you back and posting more easily...I missed your beautiful and inspiring work as WELL as your sweet self!

Welcome home!! Worth the wait. Your sketches are lovely.

So glad to see you back -- and with a sketchbook full of lovelies!!! The first one is my favorite, no, wait, maybe the second one ... no, wait, the third... no, all of them are perfect.
;-) I hope your trip was a wonderful as these drawings!

yay you're back! welcome home! I've very much missed your presence on the web and am loving the sudden abundance of sketches here (especially the frog fountain) looking forward to hearing more about your trip!

- loving the frogs! :)

Laura, these are excellent! I think my favorite is the frog fountain! They're fabulous: that cafe with the napkins in the glass; and the window box with the bridge in the distance is lovely...they're all wonderful! Ooolala...good to start seeing these! You must have had a magnificent time. Welcome home!

Ah, now here's refreshment to the eye. What marvels of fluidity --
each a liquid minute: caught!

What a counterpoint to the Oklahoma plains where the element is air, in motion.

Delicious, Laura. You are the Master of Fountains, as always.

Wonderful - a visit to the sunny south on a greyish fall evening! These are just lovely - I love the bright colors on the parasols and the typical southern rooftop. The restaurant scene is amazing too. By the Way, we have a frog fountain designed by Max Ernst here in Amboise - now you'll have to come and sketch it (tourists keep stealing the frogs though..)

these are very touching paintings...they are taking me back to places i love...have a good weekend...blessings, rebecca

Wow! There is such beautiful work here! I love them all, but I really love the girl painting and the frog fountains!

Laura, it's great to have you back. The cafe sketch is delightful, the rooftop so economical and effective, the view from the balcony is sublime. Your frog fountain is a treasure. Lunch at the restaurant de Roy is gorgeous for its line and colour. The pencil sketch, lovely.

I do hope you are going to post about your WC workshop. I'm sure we would all have liked the opportunity to peer over your shoulder.

I haven't been here in an age and there's all these wonderful sketches to see. Provence? Wow...that must have been a great trip. Can't wait to see the rest of your pixs and I'll be back for more. Have a great weekend!

All of your sketches from France are wonderful, and I'm enjoying viewing them. What a fantastic trip!

What a very great visual diary!

I love seeing France through your eyes. Wonderful work, as always! xoxox

Hi and thank you, everyone! I certainly had an embarrassment of riches to respond to and sketch! Casey, I know that Max Ernst frog---I sketched it in 2005, on a trip to your area. I think it is in my Travel Sketches album. Robyn, I will post about my experiences in the workshop at les Bassacs in the next few days. Stay tuned!

Welcome Home!!!! All wonderful sketches - i like the rooftops and frog fountain myself. Can't wait to see more about the workshop.
