Yesterday, I had the great good fortune to be taken to tea by lovely (really, truly lovely, not just politely described as lovely) Florizelle, the Parisian eye and seeker of all things good for Ullabenulla. I thought I had walked into a Renaissance painting when I saw her elegant profile, her green eyes and blonde and ochre hair. She has offered to take me around Paris to show me places I would not know about on my own, the sorts of places which she knows I like as drawing and painting subjects. And all of this in the midst of a busy career and family life. I'm very honored and grateful.
And now, for all of you who have been hinting (ha!) for some cafe scenes (you know who you are), here's the first from this trip, a kind half-montage, half-not, morning at a cafe on rue Cler.
After coffee with Florizelle, I heard the call of the wild and headed back to the Luxembourg Gardens. I know this is a kind of cheesy sculpture, but I'm a pushover for animals, real and sculpted, after my month of sketching those creatures! It was another stunning autumn day yesterday.
My favorite Paris sketch so far! I love the red chairs and the sculpture. Wonderful!

OK a cafe is OK for the hors d'oeuvres but we also need to see the entree and the desserts!
Those red chairs are rather nice!

Thank you so much, kind commenters! Yes, Florizelle is lovely, no doubt about it. I would love to sketch her, do a quick painting of her in profile, in that early Renaissance way. R, Guerlain's boutique is too small for me to be there drawing, desolee ;D. I'm so blessed to be here and am grateful for every nanosecond---as well as for all of the fun and supportive comments left on Laurelines.

a terrific cafe scene, those red chairs are great, I love the way you suggested the rattan, and the deer so regal, maybe statues but you've brought them to life, am so enjoying your sketch tour :)
